This year.. we have become grandparents.
All the sentiments proffered by self-satisfied folks of prior grand-parentage fell on my deaf ears, it would seem, because I was really not ready for the breathtaking experience of having my child have a child. We have joined the simpering, grinning, drooling merry band of grandparents.
What is it that makes this phenomenon of passage so remarkable from other amazing life events? After all, once upon a time we had our own babies and our friends had babies. They were special alright, but brother, we didn‘t know what special really was until now!!
