In this part of the world, at least, most of us as young parents introduced ourselves to our kids as Mommy and Daddy. As grandparents, however, that all changes. So anxious are we for recognition and acceptance that we allow ourselves to be labeled with any ridiculous baby gurgle sound the little darling may utter in our direction. Mee-moo, Boo-bots, Gagga, Coco, Poo-pa, Nu-na, Babba, Do-do, Peppo, Googoo-Gaga. . Grown men and women with solid identities capable of running countries become known by two syllable mumble noises and silly sounding acronyms. GranPeepa, Biggie Bill . .we even had a Grand Sir, Moo-ma and Ooompapa. Because Tom greeted Cadence with a sweet endearing “Bubbles” in recognition of her cute little chubby cheeks.. she now refers to him as something like Bub-ble which is frighteningly close to. . .“Bubba”.
